Squirrel Boy tells the classic tale of a squirrel and his boy. Rodney is a know-it-all, fun-loving squirrel with lots of big ideas. He is the best friend and pet (in that order) of 10-year-old Andy. These two "partners in crime" lead each other into all sorts of adventures in Andy's backyard and throughout the neighbourhood in this character-driven series where home life has gone to the animals.
To boost his best chum's spirits, Rodney lets Andy win a round of their favorite game. But the victory goes to Andy's head, and he thinks he can win at anything, which leads to comic hijinks when Kyle and Salty Mike challenge them.
Andy and Rodney launch Mr. J's prized bowling trophy into the neighbor's yard. They enlist everyone they know with a hair-brained scheme to help get it back without getting eaten alive by the Crazy Dog and before Mr. J finds out.
When Rodney kills Mr. J's prized flowers the night before a big flower show, he and Andy make outlandish promises to the plants so they'll stay healthy. Things get stranger when the plants begin making outlandish demands!
Andy and Salty Mike discover that they have the same weird hobby, which leads them to hanging out together. Jealous, Rodney and Kyle decide that teaming up is the only way to get their best friends back.
Andy and Rodney go to the neighbor's to complain about the Crazy Dog. Who should answer the door but the Crazy Dog's pleasant brother, Murray. What they don't realize is that Murray isn't all he's cracked up to be.
Rodney discovers he's impervious to blame and goes into business as The Blametaker! Things go awry when he begins an exclusive deal with Kyle and Salty Mike. Will he make things right before the whole city wrings his neck?
Archie the rabbit believes he's found an ally in Salty Mike. As the two of them go after Rodney, Salty's conscious gets the better of him, and he declares he can't be a part of a prank that crushes someone.
Rodney is having more trouble with Cousin Eddie and seeks advice from Grandpa Squirrel. The old rascal tells the tall tale of a Wild West town that hired a mysterious stranger to rid them of their no good sheriff and the wacky gumfight that followed.
Stan the exterminator is back, and he mistakes Leon for the Giant Wall Rat of Sumatra. When he gives chase, Andy, Rodney and the gang mistake Stan for an Evil Space Mutant Zombie. All this, plus Kyle singing the "Licking Lollies" song.
Darlene believes that Andy and Rodney's friendship is in trouble, so she decides to intervene. But they aren't mad at each other. When they misinterpret her good intentions and really DO get mad at each other, it's up to Darlene to intervene ... again.
Mr. J's mounted, talking fish begins instructing Rodney. The voice is actually Andy manipulating Rodney to stop being selfish and help people. But the plan backfires as Rodney goes overboard and soon has no time to spend with Andy.
